I made a slightly more complex version of scremeo's simulation showing the attraction of solar wind at the poles which generates the aurora.

    without the magnetosphere no life would exist on earth(i.e. Mars)

    but it does protect us from most of the cosmic radiation and from particles fromm the sun which would radiate away our atmosphere :D

    To clarify, the magnetosphere does not protect from radiation, but from high energy particles from space and from the sun. They might be radioactive but are particles with charge, unlike photons (light or radiation).

    Yeah universe sandbox 2 (officially its squared but whatever) has magnetic fields, although they aren't mega realistic as its still in alpha
