    Also check out MEDUSA, it is the superior version of Orion, and the one that would be used for deep space travel. Neither design is ideal for the same reason that the VISTA system isn't. About 75% of your reaction is wasted

    Technically it is entirely possible to launch Orion from the surface. But Technomancer is correct, you want to be on the rocket, not the ground when it happens
