    PS: The sun will swell to a red giant. This is more close to the red giant puffing off its outer layers to become a wolf-rayet, then white dwarf.

    actually, white dwarves are at tens of thousands of kelvin - you'd only be able to mine a cold 'black dwarf'.

    well....after we even mine 1% of the first one diamonds would become common, and therefore worthless.

    Actually a white dwarf is still a hot and very dense plasma of degenerate matter. Overtime it begins to crystallize and form into what we know as 'diamond'. Condensed and crystalized carbon. While it has not been directly observed, it is hypothesized as being possible.

    Um... being scientifically correct, a white dwarf is simply a condensed form of carbon and oxygen. No such thing as diamond...
