modern solar panels aren't that efficient and we would also need the infrastructure to transport and store power for cloudy days or night time -

Fusion reactors don't explode or melt. Well, actually, if improperly built, it can explode like a conventional bomb. It can also explode if attacked or damaged when active. But if it gets too hot, it would likely damage important parts for keepin the plasma hot, and the plasma would quickly cool. -
