+atomic2385, Incorrect, Deuterium is slightly heavier, as it has an extra neutron, which makes it's atomic mass 2, instead of 1, so you have an extra 6.022x10^21 of weight there after you convert it into moles, and moles into pounds, kilograms, or whatever measurements you like. Also IRL deuterium is mildly radioactive because of the Tritium dispersed in it, its still perfectly safe to drink, swim in, etc. But there IS a difference.

So technically this would be called the Deuterium Oxide reactor.

Deuterium Oxide is heavy water. The hydrogens in the water each have one more neutron than normal hydrogen atoms (0 neutrons) so the water "heavier".

chemically, there is no difference between hydrogn and deuterium. you can drink it, swim in it, in fact you probably do, because some of the water on earth is 'heavy' water (it's not actually heavier) and you will be fine. physically however, deuterium atoms conatin one more neutron (as pokeminecraft said) in their nucleus.

False, The_Powder_Boy. It is in real life H2O like water but each of the hydrogen atoms have an extra neutron.

Deuterium Oxide IRL is just Hydrogen with on more electron, I belive.
