it is a powder made from coal dust (from deposits in coal mines/storage pots etc) mixed with sulphur found in the ground. it burns slowly in the open, but when packed down, it is explosive.

Ask atomic, he's the one who discovered krit. As for the cannons, they are very rudimentary, made of a thick stone jar filled with krit and stone, very similar to the weapons used by atomic.

I start researching basic cannons using the explosive powder known as krit in other nations, since the powder has also been found (although not in large quantities) in Xephosa. I also build walls around my cities.
