    They are armed, and are rather combat-effective, but not visible at this scale.

    987tails: No. They're not warships. They have phaser arrays, which are fairly inconspicuous, and photon torpedo launchers, which are visible if you look at the necks of the ships.

    do the trek ship even have gun turrets? seriously, id like a ship with cannons on it and these including the enterprise doesnt barely has weapons. man, the Halo ships were better

    For most ships the fact that their primary functions are exploration and research explains the weird design, the main exception is the Dreadnought class, which was designed for combat.

    You would expect a fleet of ships with obvious weakpoints and exposed critical components to not do very well. Never understood why they designed them that way.
