ye sure technomancer

I remember spending months designing one of these things (also for AS Physics, as it happens!). When I first started on TPT I thought about trying to build one, but at te time didn't have the technical skills to do it. Now, I do, and I think I can make some improvements to your design if you've no objections?

@sprouted: works with anything. thats how sails work, just with wind instead of photons
-
im doing this at the moment in as level physics. it uses the momentum of photons to increase the momentum of the sail. i have also read the book though, so i sort of know it.

They're in very early stages. They can go very very fast, it just takes them a long time to get there. They also have difficulty dealing with gravitational "mud" between planets at early stages of acceleration.

@shinra: High-speed? More like "from 0 to 100 in just 3 years!" Effective? Definitely.

Works with electrons aswell

They have actually succeeded in building these. They are called Solar Sails and they are used very effectively as high-speed propulsion

Brilliant! +1

NASA are actually trying to build one of these
