the barrel at the top is usually for recoil, in some russian anti-tank weapon, you can get two of them. when the gun shot it compress gas which is like a pillow and allow a softer recoil -

i still dont know what is the top barrel of the tank? is it a gas piston like the ak 47 or it was the ammunition or some type of exhaust pipe? -
