but... it's not accurate is it. it rounds the distance down to the nearest 10 cells. you could make a far more acurate mech by sending a stream of photons a known time apart, continuing the stream until a photon is recieved, then counting all photons recieved after that, which could be easily multiplied to provide the distance to a single cell. just sayin' +1 -

-1 i really wanted to give this an upvote or just leave it be, but its not totally accurate, like the phot not always bounce back to the machine, depends on the surface, not "accurate" -
