    Because the gravity isn't strong enough to hold the mercury on the outside, and since the mercury on the inside is flowing toward the middle, thus bouncing the mercury on the outside off.

    but I don't know why it goes in the opposite direction, it flows away from the black hole!

    Actually it is normal mercury influenced by the black hole and no gravity (like RNA said)

    @NRA If you turned off gravity, it would still move, like making a "bubbly" movement, which it shouldn't that.
