    you'd be better off coating a capital ship in diamond as a fighter is not worth coating as it's role is not as important as a capital ship. 55 Cancri e is a planet made largely made of diamond and is relatively close to earth so diamonds aren't really costly to find. Then creating diamonds is not really costly as carbon is incredibly common, albeit not as common in its base element form.

    Also, take the diamonds out of your ships. There is no reason to use it.
