    Hi!

    I just got a new laptop (with Windows 8) and would like some suggestions on browsers and image processors and stuff like that.

    eeeh, if you bought a laptop, there's nothing you could do with a processor suggestion.

    anyways. On Metro, stick to IE. It has the fastest Javascript due to Microsoft allowing it to use hardware acceleration, but not allowing for example Chrome to do the same.
    On the Desktop app, use whichever you prefer.

    Are you able to use software from microsoft store? Whenever I try to start one of them, they just show blank screen and never start running. Of course, some of them work, but over half of them does blank screen on startup.

    I meant image processor. Sorry :/.

    @Jenn4

    You got Windows 8? Anyway, I've got plenty from the Microsoft Store.

    I also want to know if you think Inkscape is any good or if you have another suggestion for a image viewing/editing tool.

    I got it right away when they published 8. Get Photoshop, if can't, then GIMP.

    Nah, Paint.NET.

    Graphics processor? Can't really replace hardware on a laptop... otherwise see @jenn4 (View Post)
    Also, for viewing, use IrfanView or the built in one. For editing, Paint.NET or GIMP. Or the online version, pixlr.

    windows 8 is more of a touch-centric operating system, but it is a development subsequently for a better UI. I should imagine it as a "vista", in the sense that it probably uses alot of RAM just to run the graphics. Windows 7; vista's successor, obviously improved considerably. Perhaps this could be the case for windows 9, when it is developed.

    Not really more touch centric, rather unified for touch, mouse (and I think they mentioned TV).
    They say odd-numbered Windows releases are worse than even-numbered ones.

    They do, but I'm not letting that stop me using 8.
