Well erm, you see, quarks are merely ideas. We don't know what exactly they do or what they look like, or even what they're composed of. So, the thing about no ideas, isn't exactly suiting the subject you brought up. It's named the particle THEORY because it's educated guesses that seem to fit with what we know.

We have proof. Electrons were shot THROUGH a proton to get a "picture" of a quark.

Yes, but merely an estimated rough image. We still don't know what they do or what they're composed of. So, it's still just a theory. I never said we don't have proof they're there. I just said everything about them is a theory.

1. Only reasonable model that works. 2. Quarks interact in very well known ways. 3. Heisenberg's Uncerteinty principle shows they are pointlike 4. Proton dipole indecates their existance. So does the neutron dipole. 5. We don'tknow what protons look like... are they theories. 6. WHAT else could the electron picture be. Only solution is quarks
