    Yes, this effect is visible when placing enough water on a very hot material, heat DMND up to 9000C or so, and the water in contact will immediately evaporate creating a somewhat insulating layer of steam.

    Well it's not specifically the leidenfrost effect, but it is there in certain conditions.

    Put a block of wax and coat it in 1px of water, then surround that with lava, but only for a couple of frames, then erase the lava. Repeat that without the water, and you'll see the difference. This is somewhat similar to being able to put your hand in molten lead if it is coated in water.
