As "cool" as it looks to see sparks thrown off GLAS, it was better to have the sparks just at the surface's point of contact as previously done. This allowed for the making of a cathode ray tube where it made it look like the electrons made the glass glow. Unless you intend to add a new element like PHCO (phosphor coating) that will just fluoresce at the point of electron contact to fill in for what GLAS did before, I suggest reverting the GLAS to its previous way of working with regard to this.
