Basically, what this mode is, is that it involves brightness. Say you made a c-4 bomb, and as soon as it explodes the bomb gets really bright, like a glint or something. Another example would be a powerful nuclear bomb. As soon as it explodes, the screen gets really bright, somewhat blinding us. I think it would make the game much more fun and realistic.
How exactly would this make the game more fun? I understand that it would make it look better, but graphics have never made a game more fun. And how exactly would you turn this on/off? The options menu is more for compatibility settings, and the number keys are already full...
Otherwise, I think it is a great idea. Especially if you can set the minimum brightness... (stickman maze in a pitch black cave with only a couple torches for light, anyone?)
Well, it would just make it more fun to look at, and if its coded properly, there may be no performance errors, and we would turn it off the with the menu.
Cool idea, but it would cause insane lag. Even right now, the distortion in fancy display from Newtownian gravity slows TPT down significantly. I'm getting about 32 FPS for this save in nothing view, and only 10 FPS in fancy. I have a slower computer, but still, it runs over 3x faster without graphics effects.
@dragonf0rce: I see what you mean. I go from 260 to 66 fps with that save. @omegasupreme, @datjerk: I don't disagree with you. I'm just saying that the graphics aren't necessarily everything... For example, I would play that Atomic Cannon game regardless of the graphics (I love that type of game :D)
My point was that the graphics usually are not as big a part of the "fun factor" of a game, compared to gameplay, replayability, etc. Good graphics certainly is a plus, but should never be the best thing about a game, nor the developers' main focus.
I certainly am for this idea, its just that I'm not sure its as useful as you all think.
