Bumping button. (SITE)

We need to double-post to dump a thread, but what about a "bumping" button. If the thread is "inactive" 42 hours you can press the "bump" button and, without posting, the thread comes to "recent topics" section. THIS is a good idea

...But it's the same as making a post. It would allow people to pointlessly necro other people's threads.

And we wouldn't know who to flame and insult...
Also, bumping is only allowed when there is a serious issue, or the post is related to the topic... having a bump button would instantly break the bumping rule...

    EDIT:
    Rule 2
    2) Spam is against the rules here. (Off topic posts, and rule 15 are regarded as spam). Major offenders will be temporarily banned. If you don't have something useful to say, then don't post it at all. Double posting is prevented for the most part due to a forum-wide software limitation on them. Groups are also seen as spam if created OUTSIDE the Groups sub-form.

This also applies to bumping, which is when you post in an old thread in order to bump it back to the top of the most recent threads to give it more attention. This is only really allowed if your bumping post has something relevant to the topic, or a serious question is left unanswered in a help thread. Otherwise it is considered necroposting.
