First and formost, the explosives are laughably unrealistic (except for gunpowder).
Pretty much the problem is all the explosives behave like gunpowder in TPT, with only different trigger mechanisms (pressure, heat, flame, electricity), state of matter (solid, liquid, powder), and slight variations in output temperature and pressure.
In real life they do not. Nitroglycerine and C4 in real life are high explosives, and generate much more pressure than gunpowder which is a low explosive. In the powder toy, the variation between pressures generated by high explosives and low explosives are only slight (not the vast dfference that is present in such explosives in real life). To be realistic, C4 shoul be generating pressures of like 100 for small ammounts and 250 for larger ammounts (just like the pressure explosive in MaksProg's mod), and so should Nitro.
The admins just say use C4 for pressure explosive, but in TPT that is as effective as using gunpowder, needless to say this needs to be fixed.
Now there's 3 options to fix it. 1: increase the pressure output of C4. 2: create a new element called RC4 (realistic C4) 3: with his permission, copy MaksProg's code for his pressure explosive, and use it in the next official TPT release.
First of all, I'd just like to point out that The Powder Toy is not trying to mimic real life, it is simply a toy. We don't want to make particles unnecessarily explosive, since the game only has a tiny amount of space to work with, it's difficult to make an explosive particle realistic, while making it usable.
C5 is cold explosive, and is only good for sending cold.
Also, MaksProg managed to do it very successfully, it is usefull for making explosives that actually do their job (breaking stuff that is MEANT to be broke by pressure like brick, and C4 doesn't do crap to brick, C4 is basically useless). I've torn apart Destroyable City quite a few times in MaksProg's mod using Pressure Explosive.
And his implementation is not a case of "since the game only has a tiny amount of space to work with, it's difficult to make an explosive particle realistic". He managed to do it very nicely, and I'm quite surprised that the official version hasn't picked up on this fact.
On another note, we need some breakable Powered Clone. (great for generating cold flame electrically in order to detonate cold explosive, as currently C5 will not explode on electricity nor on normal fire, nor on pressure, but instead only on cold temperatures, and then have the clone generator itself be destroyed in the explosion).
Also would like to see Clone Liquid, Clone Powder, and Clone Gas (as found in one of the various mods).
@Videogamer555(View Post) If these changes are so imporant to you, make a mod, and then see how many saves you can break by uping the pressure of explosives. If you want something more realistic, do it yourself, I won't, and the developers most certainly won't. You can waste menu space with your multiple clone states, C-5 is meant to do that by the way, and also, I'd like to add that if were to place a large amount of your higher pressure C-4, that the pressure would become difficult to calculate, and on slower computers the game would crash.
Really, though, I agree with the OP, but I don't think that c-4's pressure output should reach a level where it will annihilate everything. It just needs to be able to smash open bricks, glass, and breakable metal.
