The plasma one is interesting. alternatives other then oxygen are interesting... did you know that oxygen is actually poisonous/toxic to humans, yet necessary for survival.

I've always wanted to meet a type 2 civilisation that colonizes stars. They'd have lots of knoledge and faster computers.
But would they accept Earthlings. And on that note, maybe they'd accept dolphins and dogs but say humans weren't intelligent enough for them! :P
