Excuse me, but shutting down your website, even temporarily, in order to protest something that's supposedly going to shut down a lot of websites is not the way a protest should work.Wikipedia almost got it right, with posting phone numbers for people to contact local senators, but blacking out their website in order to protest blacking out websites isn't logical at all.

It is working, peoples are freaking out and seeing how crappy it would be if SOPA would pass, and they are spreading the word to peoples that do not know.

Scare-techniques? Are you serious? And people are panicking that two tiny bills are going to shut down copyrighted content?
Because that's what I got from your reason; they're trying to scare people into protesting against it.

Look at the Japs during world war 2, they used propaganda, which worked out pretty good cause the majority of the people commuted suicide when the Americans came through XD

That's all this is, is just a large scale propaganda set-up by at-risk online sites, basically every website ever made lol

    It is, and heres why:
Sites like wikipedia youtube reddit flickr facebook and many more could be taken down by SOPA. This protest is acting as a preview of what would happen if SOPA passed. And actually almost all of the sites that went down posted links with information and ways to contact congressmen.

Also, this protest serves as a way to get information about SOPA out to the general public, something that must be done.

Incorrect. The bill works by a company notifying the attorney general, who then reviews and removes the copyrighted song, video, ad, or other material from the website. In absolutely no way, whatsoever, is the bill going to cause the internet apocalypse, as so many people claim,
