Look, they know about this powder toy, simon's, but when they started was before simon started this, and at that point for all we knew, PT was not open source, we believed that the only way to get the source was to contact skylark. So they got the idea of making a new PT, an open source PT. The advantages were, open-source, complete remake, utilizing the power C++ has, and taking advantage of new techniques. Take a look through that thread about Open Powder, and take a look at this thread...
