I'm gonna go ahead and get started on the swch idea then I'll go back to trying to find a more compact way to do subtraction period. If anyone has an idea for making the whole subtraction more compact, tell me because I need more room to add something I've been thinking about to the calculator

    edit:
the swch thing looks like it's gonna work. All I have left to do is fix the dlays

Forget that. I would have to fix the dlays more precisely and often than I originally expected so I'm just gonna leave it the way it is and go back to trying to make the whole subtractor a lot more compact. Call me lazy if you want, I don't care. i am lazy

Why not make it an adder-subtractor while you're at it? Just make an adder and then modify the inputs to make it do subtraction as well. You can probably find a tutorial somewhere.

Also I made a tutorial a while back about making logic circuits. I think it might help you better understand how to make large circuits that do what you want.

Thanks. I found a tutorial for an adder/subractor (easier than I expected) and I think that if I used that along with using a constant stream of electricity instead of a single spark, I might have enough room left over to incorporate multiplication into the calculator (I know of two different methods that should work). I'm going redo the whole thing using it (Using the same one wouldn't help since I'd replace most components and it would be hard to keep up with which wifi channels I got rid of and can use for other stuff) and try to have addition, subtraction, and multiplication. When I'm done I'll give you credit for help with subtraction and freeing space. It'll take me a while to finish since my laptop is slow (runs my current calculator at like 24 fps) and I have end-of-the-year testing this coming week at school which always makes me lazy lazier.

Don't worry about credit lol. Adder-subtractor is a universal thing. Everyone does it.

Ok. I hope this turns out great (working on the multiplier now). I'm looking at finishing it sometime over the weekend because of the stuff I said before plus a track meet on Tuesday, and possible Thursday, along with track practice every other weekday

I recently remembered this thread and decided to post a link to my new finished calculator that I completed weeks ago.
