well... technically all mammals have eggs... they are just inside the body...

an egg is named say a chicken egg because a chicken layed it, not because a chicken is inside it. therefore the chicken hatched from an egg layed by the species before it not from a (strictly speaking) chicken egg. and anyway the embryo forms and then the egg forms around it. and yes they was true mammals equals three. you tell an echidna it aint a real mammal an you will get a face full of quills
