A plugins folder? We thought of that awhile back, but last I heard was the fear of ruining the engine. Cheap scotch in a Bugatti engine.

This isn't going to happen for several reasons: it's insecure, it would ruin the whole sharing aspect (require x plugin to open this save) and it's also not cross-platform, you'd need to compile your plugin for Windows (SSE, SSE2), Linux (64bit SSE, 64bit SSE2, 64bit SSE3, SSE, SSE2, SSE3) and OS X.

Ok, I won't tell you to learn how to make a mod. I'll tell you to learn C and the art of compiling.

Personally, I prefer the difficulty. It keeps n00bs from creating mods, with elements like BOOM and FOOD.

    Agree
Always been my number 1 concern when making modding easier :P

Let's obfuscate the source and make it even more exclusive!

Well, it's gonna be locked so I'll make the (hopefully) last post. An elements folder would open up to so many vulnerabilities that the plugin verification would need to be taken care by the mods. More work for them :/
