has nobody considered the fact that this could break saves and would take a while to get used to

 It won't break saves as currently pavg0 and pavg1 of CRAY aren't used for anything, that was kind of the whole point of this suggestion..

And "take a while to get used to" not really, the people who wanted this have already (I'm sure) planned what they will do, and people who don't want it will just not use it.
