Leap Second 2015...

    well, 2038's plot twist is that we just need to hop over from 32-bit ints for Unix time to 64-bit ints, certainly a little more breakage considering most programs will need a recompilation (even if they use the type alias "time_t" instead of a 32-bit int, the actual machine code still implements whatever time_t was defined as during the time of compilation) :P

    Good news is, most Linux software is FOSS anyway, so a simple package upgrade will fix most computer systems :D

    Does this topic really need this much attention? I keep getting posts on my fb feed about the world ending because of an extra second...

    Apperantly, the leap-second happened before plenty of times. The world didn't end then, right?
    Also, we are arguing about a leap-second and taking away attention from the real world-destroyer, the leap-year! How come nobody is convinced that will break their computer?

    If something millions of times bigger than a second doesn't break anything, a second won't.
