    Shouldn't it also be able to absorb DEUT, as technically, DEUT is a type of water, just that the hydrogen atoms in it have an extra neutron?

    yes, but then again almost any liquid can be absorbed in a sponge material, in exception to significantly dense, tensile or viscose liquids.
