    I've always been confused about IRC... I Know what it is but I don't know how to find it or use it for that matter...

    If you guys actually play The Powder Toy, the irc channel is literally the first line of the intro message (the second one mentioned is dead), also on the wiki page.

    IRC is cool, if you consider it scary, you're doing something wrong. Ive been there for over a year, sometimes it's silent and boring, but not scary. Its fun, I made plenty of friends there.

    ok, do too IRc being popular i followed the wiki and now cannot connect to a surver to a SASL error, looked it up, now know what it is, have no idea what i'm supposed to do to get it, help is requested

    Some internet providers... are a bit sketchy and freenode blocks them.  You can always join from the webchat

    http://webchat.freenode.net/ just type in a name and '#powder' for channel and fill out captcha (no need to auth)

    There are some kind of SASL auth scripts that supposedly work, but I've never had any luck with them on tethered internet from my phone.  Webchat client isn't too bad.
