Donate Button

So the server was down today, and for a moment I thought it was broken and would never come back up. Tpt is only housed in one place and is paid for by the generosity of one particular person. (thanks Simon :) With this sudden clarity of thought, I came to the conclusion that tpt needs a donate button. Simon has done and paid enough for us that I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) would be more than willing to donnate a small or even larger free.

    What do you think?

How are there legal and cost constraints of a donate button? I put one on my site in 5 mins because I was bored.

For legal: You have to show you are using it for non profit. Some of the top google searchs though aren't too picky.

For cost: It depends who you go with. Some companies require a small transaction fee taken from each donnation, others require a set monthly fee.

TPT is a community effort, but there definitely could be a common button to share independently (Work done is always metered in GitHub so you can actually get percentages and such) or some buttons/sliders to select who to donate to. (Every dev could get listed what they do etc, it's a huge effort tho)

I know. I read appologies for the downtime before I posted this. I've been thinking it's a good idea though for a while and since then the 1000000th save has come out and the site was down for maintanence. If the main server still has lots of space left I suppose there's not much point, but it's always an option.

I believe the server is paid for by the adverts. Donations have been considered in the past, but we couldn't think of anything useful to do with the money. Splitting it fairly among the developers would be difficult.

I hope he has the server it in an air conditioned room and not some linen closet. O_O And those adds are provided  by "Adchoices" advertising agency. THE most notorius company providing new and exiting adware/spamware every day on every website. If one were to click on one...you'd never hear from them again. *click* "BUY ME! BUY ME! BUY ME! BUY ME!..." "Error: crash detected!" O_O *fizzle*

    Edit: Ads not adds. -_-

Or we could just have adds purchased here as a way to generate revenue. The percentage to offsite ads being shown is less than that of ads purchased here. Just an idea if Ximon sees this thread.
