well, apparently i did some of my homework; Amercium IS used in smoke detectors, but isnt used in nukes or reactors. according to the wiki page you posted, it's a by-product from reactors, so that could be a possible property(forming from reactions). also according to the wiki, proposed uses are a "nuclear battery" and "fuel for deep-space exploration". since it's radioactive with neutrons(TPT property), it could still be used, unrealisitcally, in nukes.
