Due to the absolutely lopsided biodiversity, the atmosphere of Old Terra is blue, due to the cold absolutely consuming everything. The only reason why humans live there is that they're basically machines by that point, and the High Spires are basically gigantic neural networks. -

Some High Spire foundations are in the sea, and there are equally massive transport networks. In general, Old Terra is also utterly fricked in terms of biodiversity.
