there is no fusion in nuclear engines, and this does have uranium fuel rods.
-
In a real nuclear engine true you can use any fuel but realistically hydrogen provides the highest weight to thrust ratio, also there would be uranium fuel rods inside the engine to provide the heat for the fusion process.
-
also nuclear engines can actually use anything as fuel, since it produces the energy via fission. It could use water or other chemicals instead of hydrogen
-
the CLNE are spewing out neutrons if you actually look, so thats just for activating the DEUT cause it cant undergo fission by itself. also if i didnt use DEUT it wouldnt produce nearly enoguh pressure to keep the temperature up via URAN, so i cannot make it realistic no matter what
-
blueskies1818: As mentioned earlier it isn't meant to be realistic, it is stil "nuclear" just not the realistic sort of nuclear .
-
also people seem to forget that this is a low effort save, and i do not plan to improve it at all
-
there is DEUT....
-
Pretty interesting! Nuclear engines are fun to make, you may have more luck if you try out DEUT. I got one going without any portals or indestructible parts
-
and you have a clone near the bottom
-
like every thing first you'd have fuel rods to heat up the fuel and the fuel would be hydrogen
