    send a group of the best (and fool-hardy) hunters to explore the wastelands for usable materials and different species, begin building double-layer windows into buildings to decrease the need for artifical light, start extracting pine-like resin for waterproofing and rendering animal fat for tallow, increase the amount of agriculture (and diversity to protect from diseases),and finally, send teams out to fish(and dive for oyster-lookalikes depending on local water temp)
