Have anyone that goes in to research wash thier body after they go in using soap and warm water. Have thier clothing removed and disposed FAR away from any civilization, preferably a marked hole somewhere. Start experimenting with different shapes of glass and multiple glass layers to zoom in on objects. Start researching some of the plants that got traded and test them on some lab mice to see what the effects are. -

Have personnel willing to risk thier lives covered with lead and sent inside to research more about this. Meanwhile, focus our entire scientific community to discover more about this subject. Build bunkers throughout the nearby area capable of standing up to a large explostion.

Refining the designs will take longer but can be done. Your steel production is limited, but steady. Steel building framing is not possible with your steel supply, you need more output. Walls around the crops prevent flash floods and monsoons from drowning them. -
