Any ideas on how to heat it to make it a nice death ray? (Credit to Vulpine for heating :D)

wow :o I was trying to think of a way to incorporate neut/prot because I know you can convert phot into them

neutrons can be used for lasers, they just have to have a GPMP behidn them with a temp of -30 or less to force the neutrons where the laser exit it, you can look at many neutron laser saves and see that many of them use the GPMP method

jk only set the ctype to phot and put a pixel of insl between the pscn and the nscn

Vulpine: well the simplest laser doesnt even have to be a death ray. all you need is a pcln (ctype phot or neut), a p-type and an n-type to turn it on and off, and some void around the pcln where you dont want the energy to go. all in all, it could be as small as 3x3 pixels
