    i like it how you used sponge, but after a while the sponge don't absorb anymore and you must replace it. Here you don't have to replace parts, its working always.

    Updated the gate, now its closing upwards.

    Usually it's best if such gates close upwards, so any liquid above them has a chance to flow away to the sides.
