    I really like how you implemented your timing by using the sine-like projection of a shape to a detector.

    Ions are electrically charged particles, such as for instance those created by, say, the passage of a lightning bolt. Plasma is also composed entirely of ions. So yes, a lightning-based weapon is an ion cannon, and no, they don't only harm electronics.
