plenty of species do these sorts of things, animals like chimpanzees have been observed to engage in organized warfare, and cyanobacteria 'polluted' the atmosphere with oxygen to the extent that it caused a mass extinction

And to realize that we have realized this, thus we arent as bad as we think we are. Plus, earth has survived much worse environmental changes, which were caused by... everything, and life got around that everytime. Earth will heal but the real danger is for us and the animals.
