Not sure how long it's been going on, but I hate how WOTC urges people to buy new sets by having events where you can only use newer cards (last 2[?] blocks). This (and cost) is why I have never played Magic in any events or tournaments.

Okay, not surprised. You should give the new stuff a shot. There is nothing like a drunken man telling you about why he quit Magic. This happened to me at a party. This guy was quite obviously intoxicated, and he was complaining about the whole "Standard" thing.

I used to play MTG back in the early days of the game. the last expansion I bought for my self was "ice age" I have played here and there over the years with other peoples stuff.

I think pressure at distance a, b, c over a fixed period of time is probably the best way to catalog TPT engines.
