    The entity appears to suck in energy as if it were a black hole, however it does not distort spacetime. It just absorbs whatever enters it, As if it were the event horizon, but without gravity outside said horizon.

    Even the most advance scans come up with nothing. They do however come up with a heavy emmitter of signals; A huge dark sphere in Almnti (Marked with a ???)

    The almntians dont appear to be affected. A single tiny laser is able to destroy a neutron star. Therefore, their version of 'low tech' is our version of 'nearly impossible tech'. Due to this the battle is a clear loss. The almntians simply destroy any ship that comes close. Further investigation reveals that you'd have to use a quantum plasma shield to block.
