The Longinus is a 22 m l/12 electromagnetic mass driver, firing projectiles at 90 km/s. Projectiles utilize basic shield technology avoid atmosphereic friction. Only one of these cannons survived the Imperium's fall, and is now an icon of their military.

    That is an observation platform. If you turned the projectile around and switched the engine, you would get a higher raw Delta-V, but lose most of it to aerodynamic drag.

    in theory if you were to put them in backwords and launch, then fire the engines with protons, would the proton engine make it move faster?
