Depends. I tend to use both FRAY and gravity shields on my ships instead of armor. If you made some crazy alloy armor you wouldnt need shields but accelerated proton beams can melt through basically anything.

Do you have any suggestions for shields? I've been using gravity shields, but those tend to interfere with engines and such, so do you think that FRAY shields are better? Or are shields even neccesary if you have really stong armor?

All currently WIP things, like the missile frigate and warp vehicles are canceled. I have 2 projects now. An ARC battleship and a CINDER (the unknown faction) Dreadnought.
