    The reason that it takes more energy to fuse oxygen than carbon is that an oxygen nucleus has a stronger positive charge than a carbon nucleus, which results in needing more energy to overcome the repulsion caused by that charge. Since we don't have elemental carbon in TPT, CO2 is used to represent it.

    why is oxygen fused at a higher temperature than CO2? shouldnt CO2 take me energy to create from hydrogen?
