I feel as though you could make this a higher bit very easily. Just expanding the width of the "disk" and make the machine print more parts of the disk before pushing it up and combining them. And then expand the output. So for an 8 bit, tell the machine to make the disk 8 pixels wide before pushing the chunk up. When all the writing is done, you just need to put 8 outputs instead of 4. I believe that making 8 outputs would be the most complicated thing... (out of space)
