Anyway. I have re-designed my favorite space ship, the Skoos Carrier, at id:1451673 Tell me what you think of it and how I can improve it.
-
Wow, some pretty advanced stuff you guys are talking about. Imaginary mass. Tachyons. Positions of sender and receivers. I have no idea what a tachyon is, or how it works.
-
Time dilation is given as the product of the Lorenz factor and the change in time. The Lorenz factor being 1/sqrt(1-(v^2)/(c^2)) Since this depends only on time, velocity, and the speed of light, the imaginary mass of a tachyon would not change its time dilation.

Hmmm, I don't know know much about imaginary numbers, but I assumed that it could mean no time dilation, but give them mass for some things, so they can be detected. I know that matricies can make some imaginary numbers less confusing, but I don't know anywhere near enough about them to calculate the imaginary mass of tachyons in even a slightly more understandable form. (If possible)

Well, having imaginary mass doesn't mean having 0 mass, and I don't think time dilation could be ruled out for the tachyon anyway. Imaginary numbers are non-zero, so there are some weird consequences of this.
-
Wouldn't the imaginary mass mean that, relative to nothing (as in an object with no (or imaginary) mass) the people would be moving ftl, which shouldn't change anything because theoretically 'nothing' can move at infinite speeds relative to something without changing time.
-
But, in the frame of reference of the tachyon, they are both moving faster than the speed of light. Frame of reference is all important when discussing relativity.
