    The mods will tell you that the communications (the tpt server) were down because of a powercut, but if you go about a lightweek below or above the starsystem you will be able to find evidence of the capacitor quickly diverting it's power into the secondary superlaser after the repair was completed.

    There hasn't been much progress on the flagship. The test was to check the calibration of a secondary superlaser capacitor, the test failed and damaged the capacitor, and it had to be repaired to an atomic level while still charged, the process meant most ftl and surface communications were offline until the repair could be completed.

    The time travel thing was basically a tachyon transmitter. I'm not sure exactly what this one does (Hamsterboy made it), but you need a tachyon reciever, and it is capable of sending a large amount of information.
