It sounds like a good idea, but, as the others have said, there are a number of problems to it. Let's use an example. Pick a computer. A powder toy computer. I don't care which one, what kind, or what it does, pick a decent sized programmable computer. There's a great many out there on Powder Toy. Now, tell me, how many FPS do you get? Not a whole lot, right? Now, pick a bomb. A really powerful bomb. I wouldn't be surprised if there's one on the front page right now. Try it out. It explodes, right (I hope so!)? How much FPS do you get? On the powerful deut/fusion type bombs, you might get 10-15 FPS - and that's the high. More likely, you get 5-10 FPS. Now, multiply the amount of space in Powder Toy by a couple thousand. At least 2k. That's at least how much more pixel space you'll need. Even if it's empty, it uses a lot of memory, I imagine. Now, try blowing a big bomb up in there. Since it can spread in 3 dimensions, instead of 2, you get a lot more particles, meaning a ton of lag. As in, .0001 FPS. You see, the graphics aren't the issue. As others have said, people can run things with a LOT of polygons, and not have many issues. But in this case, not even Minecraft compares - notice how in that game, if you make a big, 50x50x50 cube of sand floating in the air, and then drop it, it makes a lot of lag? Yeah, imagine that idea in Powder toy, except include temperature, pressure, gravity, and properties of the element, such as electrical properties or when s**t is supposed to blow up. That's a lot of calculations, and unless you have a really really high end computer (beyond the i7 extreme...), nobody's computer can handle the immense benefits of Powder Toy in 3D. It's a great idea, and I really like it, but it's just not practical. Sorry.

Krystian, I believe this would only take about 2 years at most to code.

Hittox, obviously this engine would not be able to even do 3D. the entire engine will have to be redesigned. I would code it myself with happiness and pleasure, but unfortunatly I do not possess the rights to copy a game, no matter how different it may appear.

@howlschaos "you're suggestion has been rejected"? Wud? And also, why don't you code it if you want this so much. Jacksonmj made a thread about 3DTPT but it was a joke, so I think they wont be adding 3D to TPT.

It wont be that laggy if you code it properly. Though I dont know, as a 3D artist I have no problem having 5 million poly's on 3DS Max. You cannot use this client as is to make the 3D TPT. THe engine is not strong enough anyway. Wont be that hard to code tbh - just make sure the physics of every material currently available stays the same. Hittox ~ You're suggestion has been rejected.
