    @HMMurdock, the AT-AT actually has less firepower than the AT-TE. And the AT-TE has magnetic legs that can climb vertically. The difference is strength. The AT-AT has more armor and is very hard to destroy as depicted in Episode V. The AT-AT is more of a carrier and the AT-TE is more of an assault vehicle.
