though it is proven, it is unlikely because it would only be caused by total nuclear war, and i think you would be worrying more about radiation than that, because nuclear winter will not kill you nearly as fast as the bombs and debris itself -
maxwellseq 29th May 2013pds3-14: the reason the indian ocean quake was ten terratones was because that was energy that was being transferred through the earth, which is uncomparable to a nuclear bomb, because that enery is being transferred through the atmosphere, and is not meant to affect the earth other than the very surface, plus, a nuclear bomb will kick up thousands of pounds in debree and send it into the stratosphere, which does not require that much force to do if done on a larger scale

Also, 3 degrees C drop would be only 1.8 C cooler than it was during the renaissance. (the little ice age was still going then)
